Feux Follets

This painting series marks a turn to contemporary social issues in my work. It is about surrealistic portraits that address modern society issues such as mass consumption, private data processing and loss of individualism and identity.

 

The 'Feux Follets' seem misplaced and lost. Their gaze is as opaque as the background behind them. Each of them has a number, which is unique yet generic. The numbers appear as anonym and dehumanizing codes, reminiscent of both a numerical system and a DNA code.
